Kano Governor Abba Yusuf has accused suspected hoodlums of seizing documents related to corruption cases against Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), during the #EndBadGovernance protest.

During the protest, which saw looting and destruction in parts of the country, public buildings in Kano, including a court, were broken into.

Ganduje, a former Kano governor, faces graft allegations along with his family and associates.

While inspecting the damage at the court on Wednesday, Yusuf labeled those responsible for stealing the court documents as “enemies” of Kano.

“It is regrettable that Kano state’s enemies hired troublemakers to vandalize a historic public building to derail corruption charges against the APC national chairman and former governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family, and his aides,” said Sunusi Tofa, the governor’s spokesperson, quoting Yusuf.

Yusuf estimated the damage at N1 billion and mentioned that the office of the chief judge was ransacked by the attackers.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property in Kano and urged the youth not to be swayed by “detractors” inciting violence.
