The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf’s claim that hired miscreants, posing as protesters, looted sensitive documents related to the corruption trial of APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.

This was revealed in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu.

Governor Yusuf, after visiting a court that had been vandalized during recent nationwide anti-hunger protests, stated that “enemies of the state” hired undesirable elements to damage the historic building and steal files related to the corruption charges against the APC national chairman. He suggested the vandals were on a sponsored mission.

However, Ganduje’s aide responded, calling Yusuf’s allegation preposterous and baseless. He remarked, “It is absurd that governance in Kano has been reduced to a joke, where the state government suggests that demonstrators broke into a court, selectively took documents related to the APC chairman’s trial, and left in this digital age.”

He added, “No discerning person will believe this simplistic propaganda. What happened to the documents with the government lawyers? The state government is out of ideas on how to run the state and repeatedly resorts to accusing Ganduje and his family of corruption, despite their dedicated service to Kano.”

The statement further accused Governor Yusuf’s administration of trying to divert attention from their responsibility for the violence in the state, arguing that the idea of critical documents being stolen during a protest highlights the state’s growing incompetence in managing security and legal matters.

“Governor Yusuf should understand that leaders’ words and actions have serious consequences. We stand with the people of Kano and urge all well-meaning citizens to remain calm and law-abiding as the authorities continue their investigations,” the statement concluded.
