Mrs. Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the daughter of President Bola Tinubu and the Iyaloja-General, has successfully resolved the conflict between the Lagos State Butchers Association and the National Butchers Union of Nigeria.
News Review reports that the crisis stemmed from unsuccessful efforts by the Lagos State chapter, previously led by Alhaji Bamidele Kazeem, to withdraw from the national union.
During a meeting held on Monday, which included the union’s National President, John Adun, and other key stakeholders from both the national and state chapters, Tinubu-Ojo listened to the perspectives of all involved and urged them to maintain peace.
She emphasized, “Since the state chapter has pledged allegiance to the national body and was inaugurated by it, the Kazeem-led group should embrace peace and work collaboratively with the national leadership.”
Tinubu-Ojo also cautioned against greed and betrayal among leaders, stressing the importance of resolving disputes quickly to prevent them from escalating into violence or public unrest.
“Growth can only happen in a peaceful environment,” she stated, directing a union member to present the relevant sections of the union’s constitution to underline the importance of unity.
The Iyaloja-General further emphasized that welfare should be distributed equitably among all members, condemning any practices that favored only loyalists within the union.
Following the resolution of the crisis, Elder Shola Adetele was appointed as the interim chairman of the state union by the national body.
Upon his appointment, Adetele expressed deep gratitude to the Iyaloja-General, pledging to lead an inclusive administration that prioritizes the welfare of all members while maintaining close collaboration with the national union.
