The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has advised married female prospective corps members who have been assigned to states where their husbands do not live to apply for redeployment.

This announcement was made in a post on X.com on Monday.

The NYSC stated, “ATTENTION ALL 2024 BATCH ‘B’ STREAM II MARRIED FEMALE PROSPECTIVE CORPS MEMBERS

“All married female Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) who have been posted to states where their husbands are not residing should visit the nearest NYSC Orientation Camp to request a change of state of deployment.

“They should report during the registration period at the Orientation Camps, bringing copies of their marriage certificates and other relevant documents as proof.

Once the redeployment is approved, it will be updated on their dashboard for reprinting.”

The NYSC is a scheme established by the Nigerian government to engage graduates in nation-building and development.

It was founded on May 22, 1973, under Decree No. 24, which stated that the program was created “to foster and develop common ties among the youth of Nigeria and promote national unity.”

To be eligible for the NYSC, graduates must be under 30 years old at the time of graduation.

Those over 30 years old are issued a Certificate of Exemption, which is equivalent to the NYSC Discharge Certificate.

Corps members who successfully complete the service year receive a certificate of satisfactory participation.
