Nigerian-born UFC star Israel Adesanya has placed a $10,000 bet on two-time former unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in his IBF heavyweight title fight against Daniel Dubois. The bout is set for September 21, 2024, at Wembley Stadium in England.
This highly anticipated all-British matchup will see 96,000 fans create an electrifying atmosphere at a venue familiar to Joshua but a new challenge for Dubois. It will be Dubois’ first fight at England’s national stadium, adding to the pressure on him and his trainer, Don Charles.
In an Instagram post on Friday, Adesanya shared a photo of his bet placed on September 17, 2024, featuring the names “Dubois, Daniel – Joshua, Anthony.” His post included the message, “ÒGÚN‼ This fight got beef…grab the #stake sauce,” indicating his choice of Joshua to win between the 10th and 12th rounds, with a potential payout of $50,000. Dubois, however, has boldly asserted his goal to knock out Joshua.
The 26-year-old Brit, who refers to himself as “a good destroyer,” is confident he can inflict only the second knockout loss of Joshua’s professional career.
“I aim to knock him out. That’s the program, the mindset, the intention going into this fight,” Dubois told Sky Sports. “I’m focusing my whole life on destroying him and just being a good destroyer. Don’t wait. Go out there. Smash him.”
Joshua, now 33, is riding a wave of momentum with four consecutive wins, including a knockout of former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.
