The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 90.33 percent of the Edo governorship election results to its Result Viewing Portal.

Results from 4,082 out of the 4,519 polling units across the state have been successfully transmitted to the portal. Earlier today, Anugbum Onuoha, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo, assured the public during an interview on Arise Television that the electronic transmission of results would proceed smoothly, provided there were no network issues.

“We have trained the BVAS operators, and they are ready. The BVAS will be used to accredit voters and determine the total number of voters at each polling unit.

“After accreditation, voting will commence, and at the end of the process, the results will be counted and uploaded to our IReV,” he explained. With over 2.2 million permanent voter cards collected, candidates from various parties, including Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party, are vying for the governorship.

The winner will succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki, who is set to leave Osadebe House on November 11, after serving two terms in office.
