Nigerian Afrobeat artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared the reason for his keen interest in the Edo State gubernatorial election. In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, Davido explained that his mother is from Edo State and expressed frustration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over issues in the ongoing election. He wrote:
“My mom is from Edo for those wondering why I’m interested in the election… but we as Nigerians should be concerned sha… @inecnigeria shame on you. I know how many times I had to come here and rant before they got it right in Osun! It’s really bad. God help us.”
Davido also labeled INEC as the most dangerous institution in Nigeria and urged Edo residents to closely monitor the electoral process until its conclusion.
“The most dangerous institution in Nigeria @inecnigeria… EDP PEOPLE NO GREE OOO, FIGHT TILL FINISH!!!”
He further mentioned that all attention would be on the Osun State governorship election in 2026 and urged INEC to extend voting hours in Edo.
“We dey wait for Osun 2026… try this nonsense first @inecnigeria. Extend voting time!! @inecnigeria.” He added: “Make them hungry, then make them sell their votes to survive… when will our stupidity end, haba.”
