The Edo State Government has mandated all public and private schools to commence the 2024/25 academic session on September 30.
This directive follows a prior postponement of the original resumption date, which had been set for September 9, 2024.
In a statement released on Sunday in Benin, Ojo Akin-Longe, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, addressed the circulation of a false notification claiming schools would reopen on Monday. He urged parents and guardians to ignore the misleading information.
The permanent secretary clarified, “We refer to the earlier announcement postponing the reopening of all public and private schools in Edo State, initially scheduled for Monday, 9th September 2024. “We are also aware of a fake notification suggesting schools should resume on Monday, 23rd September 2024.
“We want to make it clear that this false information did not come from the Edo State Government, and it is the work of mischief-makers. Please disregard it.
“The Edo State Government now officially directs all public and private schools in the state to resume on Monday, 30th September 2024, for the 2024/25 academic session. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.”
