The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 98.58% of the results from the Edo governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal.

As of 8:40 a.m. on Sunday, results from 4,455 out of the 4,519 polling units where elections were held have been successfully posted on the portal.

INEC reports that there are 2,629,025 registered voters and 4,519 polling units in Edo State, with 2,249,780 (85.57%) of the voters possessing Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). Candidates from multiple parties, including Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP), are vying for the governorship position.

The winner will replace Governor Godwin Obaseki, who is set to leave office on November 11 after serving two terms.

Meanwhile, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo State, Anugbum Onuoha, assured the public during an interview with Arise Television that the electronic transmission of results would proceed smoothly, provided there are no network disruptions.

“We have trained the operators for the BVAS system. They are ready. BVAS will be used to accredit voters and verify the total number of voters at each polling unit.

“After that, the voting process will begin. Once voting is concluded, the results will be counted and uploaded to our IReV portal,” he explained.
