Martin Otse, a controversial social media critic known as VeryDarkMan, has responded to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) invitation following his accusations against some of its personnel for bribery.
In a video posted on his Instagram on Wednesday, VeryDarkMan urged the EFCC to focus on investigating its officers before summoning him over his allegations.
He remarked, “The EFCC’s press release didn’t address the main issue. Why didn’t they confirm Bobrisky’s detention? Bobrisky is the suspect, and the EFCC should have verified that. If the spokesperson can’t confirm Bobrisky was in custody, that’s a problem.”
He then challenged the EFCC, stating, “Before you invite someone like me, thoroughly investigate your officers, especially those involved in Bobrisky’s case. Look into their accounts and actions. Only then can you summon me, Martin Otse, aka VeryDarkMan.”
VeryDarkMan also expressed distrust in the EFCC, declaring he would not respond to their invitation unless the matter is handled at their Abuja headquarters. “You’re asking me to come to Lagos, but the EFCC’s headquarters is in Abuja.
It doesn’t make sense. I suggest you bring Bobrisky to Abuja for the investigation. Besides, I don’t have N15 million to settle anything, and I have no godfather. I don’t trust you, and you could easily set me up. Investigate your officers first, then speak to me.”
He humorously added that if he were to consider attending, the EFCC would need to provide him with first-class travel and five-star accommodation. “If I’m coming, you’ll have to book me a first-class ticket and five-star hotel. I didn’t collect the N15 million, so don’t expect me to come at my own expense,” he joked.
His response follows the EFCC’s invitation to him to assist in their investigation after VeryDarkMan shared a recording in which cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, alleged that unnamed EFCC officials extorted N15 million from him to drop money laundering charges.
