In a newly released voice recording, Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, a controversial cross-dresser, claimed to have paid N5 million upfront to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) to secure a Federal Government pardon for money laundering charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bobrisky revealed that the SAN initially demanded N10 million, but he was unable to raise the full amount due to his EFCC-frozen account.

This information came to light in a video shared by popular social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), on Monday, October 7, 2024. The voice recording was reportedly made on May 16, 2024.

According to Bobrisky, his godfather helped him by providing the initial N5 million, but he could not ask for more financial assistance because his godfather had already arranged for him to stay in a furnished apartment near the prison.

Bobrisky clarified that contrary to public belief, he was not in prison. He confessed, “Truth be told, I’m not in prison, but I’m nearby. Thanks to my godfather, I’ve been provided with an apartment. He ensured that I wouldn’t set foot in prison. Let people think what they want, but I’m not there.” https://www.facebook.com/share/v/xSFsPgkjSS3NCMCj/

He further explained that arrangements were made with the Deputy Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service to keep him near the prison on the condition that he avoids posting on social media. Bobrisky noted that this setup allowed him to visit people and receive family visits discreetly.

Bobrisky mentioned that they were working towards securing a pardon that would shorten his sentence. He was scheduled to finish serving his sentence by July but expressed hope that the pardon could lead to his release by early next month.

He stated, “The SAN requested N10 million, which I would have paid, but my account is frozen. My godfather gave me N5 million, which we sent to the SAN two weeks ago, and the pardon request has been submitted.”

Bobrisky also revealed that the arrangement for his living situation was made with assistance from the Deputy Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service. He explained that concerns about harassment in a male prison led to the decision to house him nearby, as long as he remained silent publicly.

This disclosure followed Bobrisky’s earlier claim that EFCC officials demanded and accepted N15 million to drop the money laundering charges against him.

He also alleged that his godfather, along with the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, helped arrange for him to serve his six-month sentence in a private apartment rather than in prison. Furthermore, Bobrisky accused human rights lawyer Femi Falana of seeking a presidential pardon for him in exchange for ₦10 million.
