Transportation costs in the Federal Capital Territory are expected to soar due to a recent increase in petrol prices at some Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) stations in Abuja on Wednesday.
The NNPCL stations have raised the price of petrol from N897 to N1,030 per litre, according to observations from our correspondent across several locations in the FCT.
This latest increase, the second within a month, represents a 14.8 percent rise, or N133 per litre.
At the NNPCL mega station in Central Area, a customer expressed frustration, stating that the petrol was sold at N1,030, though the station did not display its prices on signboards or pump meters, leaving customers to rely on verbal updates from attendants.
“I’m very angry right now. I came to this station expecting a better price. It was only after waiting in line that the fuel attendant informed me the price had increased to N1,030,” said the customer, who preferred to remain anonymous.
Meanwhile, our correspondent observed that independent stations like Conoil and Total Energies, located opposite the NNPCL headquarters, were selling petrol at N926 per litre, but with long queues.
