Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been released on bail after spending five days in police custody.

Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju confirmed that Okoye was arrested in Lagos last Friday and later transferred to Abuja, where he was detained.

According to Adeyanju, the arrest followed a complaint by Burna Boy, who accused Okoye of defamation and cyberstalking. After fulfilling the bail conditions set by the police, Okoye was released to his lawyer on Tuesday evening.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Adeyanju expressed gratitude to those who helped secure Okoye’s release and praised the professionalism of the police’s IRT department.

A viral video shows Okoye taunting Burna Boy, questioning how he won the Grammy for his album Twice As Tall and alluding to his connection with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who is facing serious allegations including sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

Additionally, reports mention a video where Okoye’s mother pleaded with Burna Boy to “temper justice with mercy” and release her only son.
