“Alex Ikwechegh Expresses Regret for Assaulting Bolt Driver”

Alex Ikwechegh, a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, has expressed regret for assaulting a Bolt driver who was delivering a package to him.

In a public statement titled “A Statement of Regret and Commitment to Justice,” Ikwechegh apologized for his actions, which were captured in a viral video, and recognized his behavior as “unacceptable” for someone in his position. He has vowed to cooperate with the ongoing police investigation and to seek professional counseling to address the situation.

Ikwechegh remarked, “As a public servant, I understand the trust my constituents and the Nigerian people place in me. My actions did not meet the expectations of my role, and for that, I am genuinely sorry.” He acknowledged the embarrassment and harm inflicted on the driver, his constituents, and the nation as a whole.

Commitment to Positive Change

Ikwechegh committed to addressing the “underlying issues” through counseling and announced his participation in community service initiatives aimed at fostering respect, empathy, and understanding.

A Call for Respect and Dignity

In concluding his statement, he encouraged Nigerians to promote a culture of respect, tolerance, and dignity, highlighting that collective efforts can create a society where everyone is treated with fairness and compassion.
