Lagos — Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has reportedly left Nigeria just days after his release by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). While he has kept his destination under wraps, Bobrisky shared several videos on his Instagram story Monday morning, flaunting his first-class ticket purchase.
“See you soon, Nigeria. This girl bought a first-class ticket three times; that’s over 30 million. Raise the bar for this girl,” he teased, adding humor about his passport photo, which he claimed had “disfigured” his image.
Bobrisky’s sudden departure follows a tense week of incidents. Last Thursday, he was stopped and removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport. He later alleged he sustained injuries in the scuffle and alerted fans on social media.
Following the incident, Bobrisky was taken to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, where he faced questioning over accusations of bribing officials with N15 million to drop money laundering charges. After a reportedly intense interrogation, he was released on bail Saturday, having denied the bribery allegations in a statement to the EFCC.
The cross-dresser’s legal troubles have intensified since April 2024, when he was sentenced to six months for naira abuse. Though initially held at Kirikiri Prison, he reportedly spent only three weeks before a quiet transfer to a private location.
In September, controversy escalated when influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, shared an audio recording allegedly featuring Bobrisky discussing bribes to EFCC officials to drop charges. The latest chapter in Bobrisky’s ongoing saga has once again captivated Nigeria’s attention.
