Fire Destroys Millions in Goods at Ojota Furniture Market

A devastating fire swept through a furniture market in Ojota, Lagos, on Thursday afternoon, leaving goods worth millions of naira in ashes.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported that an electrical surge from a nearby transformer ignited the blaze around 1 p.m., quickly spreading to multiple shops.

Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, confirmed that the inferno engulfed furniture stores, consuming valuable merchandise.

Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, worked to control the flames and prevent further destruction.

Thankfully, no casualties or injuries were reported, but the incident marks the second major market fire in Lagos within a week.
