“Rivers Police Neutralize Notorious Kidnap Kingpin, ‘2man,’ Wanted for Multiple Murders”

In a major breakthrough, operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have neutralized Nkem ThankGod, also known as “2man,” a feared kidnap kingpin and cult leader. The 42-year-old, who had been on the police wanted list since 2021, was killed during an intelligence-driven operation in Ahoada East Local Government Area on Thursday.

Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Mohammed, disclosed this at a press briefing in Port Harcourt, where the lifeless body of the criminal was paraded. “2man,” a leader of the Greenlander Cult Group, was notorious for terrorizing communities in Ahoada East and Ahoada West LGAs with heinous crimes ranging from kidnappings to brutal murders.

The CP detailed the suspect’s extensive criminal record, which included:

  • The murder of Okogbe Community’s youth leader, Christmas Ede, in 2021.
  • The killing of a man and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Kiriki, along with another victim in 2024.
  • The murder of two policemen attached to the Rapid Response Team in early 2023.
  • The killing of Shell staff and the theft of their Toyota Hilux in Ahoada West.
  • Numerous kidnappings and extortions, often followed by the execution of victims.
  • Repeated vandalization of oil pipelines and government facilities.

The police revealed that “2man” had also attacked officers in the past, including shooting SP Bello during a rescue operation in 2022. His reign of terror came to an end when he and his gang attempted another kidnapping, prompting a swift response from the police. Although his accomplices managed to escape with injuries, efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.

During the operation, police recovered two AK-47 rifles, five magazines, and 22 rounds of live ammunition. CP Mohammed reassured the public of the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in Rivers State.

“This is a clear message to criminals that there is no safe haven for them in Rivers State,” Mohammed declared. He also urged residents to provide useful information on suspicious activities, emphasizing the need for community cooperation to dismantle criminal networks.

The operation underscores the police’s determination to make Rivers State a hostile environment for criminal elements and restore peace and security across the region.
