PANDEF Rejects IPOB’s Inclusion of Niger Delta in Biafran Agenda
Port Harcourt, Nigeria – The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has strongly condemned the inclusion of the Niger Delta region in the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)’s Biafran secessionist agenda.
PANDEF’s National Youth Leader, Donben Donyegha, issued a statement rejecting any association with Biafra and reaffirming the region’s commitment to a united Nigeria based on equity and justice. He described the inclusion of Niger Delta communities in IPOB’s plans as “provocative and insulting.”
In response, IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful dismissed the concerns as “garbage” and denied any attempts to force communities to join the Biafran cause. He attributed such allegations to misinformation spread by a splinter group.
IPOB maintains its focus on achieving independence through peaceful means, including a referendum where individuals can freely decide their allegiance. Powerful called for restraint and urged media outlets and groups to avoid linking IPOB with fringe elements.
