Confusion in Kano: Security Blocks Emir’s Palace
Kano was thrown into a state of confusion on Friday as heavily armed security personnel, comprising the police and the Department of State Services (DSS), imposed a strict lockdown on the palace of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
The sudden and unexplained security presence sparked widespread speculation. Palace sources hinted that the move might be aimed at preventing the Emir from accompanying his newly appointed Wamban Kano and District Head of Bichi, Munir Sanusi, to his official post. Another theory suggested it could be linked to the Emir’s planned meeting with economists to discuss proposed tax reform bills.
The security lockdown has significantly restricted movement in and out of the palace, further intensifying the mystery surrounding the incident.
