Sanwo-Olu to Commission Key Road Projects in Amuwo-Odofin on Tuesday

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will on Tuesday, formally inaugurate four major road projects in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, including the reconstructed Old Ojo Road (Phase 1) in Oriade LCDA. The other roads set for commissioning are Irede Road, Navy Town Road, and Mumuni Adio (Buba Marwa) Road.

The projects highlight Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to the THEMES+ Agenda, particularly the transportation pillar, by delivering infrastructure critical to economic growth and mobility. Commissioner for Information and Strategy Gbenga Omotoso, who disclosed this, noted that the roads provide vital links to the Lagos Blue Line Rail on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway and jetties along the waterways, supporting the state’s multi-modal transportation initiative.

Highlights of the Roads:

  • Old Ojo Road (Phase 1): Originally a single-carriageway built in the 1960s, the road has been upgraded to meet modern standards, ensuring durability and better drainage.
  • Irede Road (2.2km): This route leads to the Irede Jetty, connecting Lagos-Badagry Expressway to riverine communities like Ibasa, Ibeshe, Ilashe, and Imoore.
  • Mumuni Adio Road: A key artery for access to tank farms and industries in Ijegun Egba, critical to petroleum product distribution.
  • Navy Town Road: This road links Old Ojo Road to Navy Town, the Central Bank Estate, and the Ijegun Imoren Jetty.

The newly reconstructed 10.1km road network integrates residential and commercial areas, boosting connectivity and economic activities.

Omotoso assured Lagosians that Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration remains dedicated to upgrading old roads and constructing new ones to fulfill his promise of improved infrastructure and development across the state.
