JAMB Sets 2025 UTME Dates, Introduces Mock Exam for Underage Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced key dates for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) applications. Speaking at a briefing, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, revealed that the sale of UTME forms will begin on January 31, 2025, and end on March 5, 2025. Direct Entry candidates can purchase their application documents and e-PINs from March 10, 2025, to April 7, 2025.

The Mock-UTME has been scheduled for April 5, 2025, while the main UTME will be conducted from April 25, 2025, to May 5, 2025.

Registration Fees

Candidates registering for the UTME will pay the following fees based on their preferences:

  • UTME with mock exam: ₦8,200
  • UTME only: ₦7,200

A breakdown of the charges is as follows:

New Mock Exam for Underage Candidates

In a groundbreaking initiative, JAMB has introduced a special mock UTME for candidates below the age of 16. This program is designed to allow younger candidates to assess their abilities ahead of the main examination. However, Prof. Oloyede clarified that this initiative is not tied to admission processes.

Age and Admission Requirements

JAMB reiterated that candidates must be at least 16 years old on or before September 30, 2025, to qualify for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Nonetheless, exceptional candidates under the age of 15 may be considered for admission if they score a minimum of 280 in the UTME and excel in their Senior Secondary Certificate and post-UTME examinations.

This announcement signals the commencement of preparations for the 2025 UTME cycle, as JAMB continues to prioritize inclusivity, fairness, and academic excellence in the admissions process.
