Amotekun Arrests 300 Suspected Criminals in Ondo State Amid Rising Insecurity
The Ondo State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, has announced the arrest of over 300 suspected criminals in the past three months. The arrests, made across 15 locations within the state’s 18 local government areas, were attributed to increased intelligence gathering efforts, including the deployment of “Amotekun Ambassadors” within communities.
Amotekun Commander, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, stated that the suspects were apprehended for various offenses, including kidnapping, armed robbery, and housebreaking. He emphasized the importance of community collaboration in combating crime and assured the public that the state is taking proactive measures to enhance security.
Meanwhile, the Ondo North Youth Alliance (ONYA) has criticized Senator Jide Ipinsagba for his perceived indifference towards the rising insecurity in his constituency, particularly in Owo town. ONYA threatened to initiate a recall process if the senator fails to address the security concerns and demonstrate greater engagement with the needs of his constituents.
