Legal Battle Looms as SeaKing’s Lawyer Threatens to Sue Pastor Adeboye After RCCG Backs TikToker’s Arrest Over Viral Criticism

LAGOS, NIGERIA – A legal battle is brewing between a TikTok influencer, his lawyer, and the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye. Inibehe Effiong, representing TikToker-turned-activist Olumide Ogunsanwo (SeaKing), has threatened legal action against Adeboye after the RCCG issued a statement supporting SeaKing’s arrest.

SeaKing was arrested in December following a petition by the Concerned Christian Youth Forum, alleging he insulted Adeboye in a December TikTok post criticizing the cleric’s call for a 100-day fast. While Adeboye recently claimed ignorance of the arrest, the RCCG has now affirmed its support, stating the petition was filed “on behalf of the Fathers of Faith, including Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye.”

Effiong condemned the church’s stance, arguing it contradicts Adeboye’s earlier claims. He insists SeaKing’s rights were violated by his extended detention. Unless the RCCG retracts its statement within 24 hours, Effiong said he will include Adeboye in a lawsuit to enforce SeaKing’s fundamental rights, potentially requiring Adeboye’s court testimony. Effiong also cautioned religious leaders against using law enforcement to silence critics.
