Convicted Kidnap Kingpin Evans Seeks Plea Bargain, Offers to Surrender Properties and 14 Trucks, Cites Prison Reform, Federal Scholarship, and New Teaching Role in Kirikiri

Lagos, Nigeria – Convicted billionaire kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, has appealed to the Lagos State High Court at Tafawa Balewa Square to accept his plea bargain application on compassionate grounds.

Evans, through his lawyer, Etudo Emefo, expressed his willingness to surrender all his properties, including 14 brand-new trucks, to the Lagos State Government. The proceeds from the sale of these assets would be given to his victims as part of his proposed plea deal.

The notorious kidnapper claimed he has turned a new leaf, stating that he is now a teacher at Kirikiri Maximum Prison after earning a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Economics from Yewa College of Education. Evans further disclosed that he was awarded a Federal Government scholarship, which allowed him to continue his studies at the National Open University of Nigeria, where he is currently in his second year pursuing a degree in Political Science.

He also underwent training in welding and metal fabrication under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, passing all required tests. Documents, including his NCE certificate, project work, admission letter, and test results, were submitted to the court in support of his plea.

Evans pleaded for mercy, stating that without the Lagos State Government’s forgiveness, his education and newly acquired skills would be wasted.

During the court session, prosecuting counsel Alaba Kuku confirmed that Evans’ lawyer had submitted an advance copy of the plea bargain application, which is now under consideration by the state government.
