PETROAN Applauds NNPC, Dangote for Petrol Price Cut and Refund Initiative
The Petroleum Retailers Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has commended NNPC Retail Ltd for reducing the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from N920 to N875 per litre. The association described the move as a significant relief for Nigerians grappling with rising inflation.
In a statement to News Review, PETROAN’s National President, Dr. Billy Gillis-Harry, highlighted the positive impact of the price cut, noting that it would lower transportation costs and, in turn, reduce food prices, making essential commodities more affordable for Nigerians.
PETROAN also praised Dangote Refinery for its decision to refund N65 per litre to retail outlet owners affected by the price reduction. The refinery, which recently slashed its gantry price from N890 to N825 per litre, has committed N16 billion to refund marketers who purchased fuel at higher rates before the adjustment.
Dr. Gillis-Harry emphasized that this initiative will ease financial strain on retail outlet owners and reaffirmed PETROAN’s support for government-led reforms in the petroleum sector. He urged Nigerians to remain optimistic as these efforts begin to yield tangible benefits.
