Boko Haram Insurgents Attack Malari Police Station at Midnight, Repelled by Security Forces After Fierce Gun Battle

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists launched an attack on a police station in Malari, Borno State, at around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, but were successfully repelled by security forces.

Local sources confirmed that the insurgents were met with strong resistance from a combined team of police officers and soldiers, forcing them to retreat.

ASP Nahum Daso, spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, verified the incident, stating that while the attackers attempted to breach the station, they were driven back after an intense gunfight. He noted that the terrorists targeted an Armoured Personnel Carrier, damaging its tyres but failing to destroy it.

“No casualties were recorded on our side, but we believe the insurgents suffered losses,” Daso said, adding that efforts are ongoing to prevent further attacks.

Residents, while relieved by the security response, voiced concerns that the militants might regroup and strike again.

The assault comes just weeks after Boko Haram fighters attacked the Nganzai Police Division, killing two officers.

Borno State Commissioner of Police, Yusufu Lawal, praised the officers for their bravery and assured residents of continued security reinforcement.
