Abeokuta Court Adjourns Portable’s Case to March 26 as Prosecution Seeks to Merge Charges Against Him and His Workers for Joint Trial

An Abeokuta Magistrate’s Court has adjourned the case against popular musician Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, to March 26 to allow the prosecution to merge his charges with those of his workers.

When the case resumed on Wednesday following his initial arraignment on February 20, Senior State Counsel Timileyin Oredein argued that trying Portable and his workers separately would be a waste of time. He noted that the artist and nine of his workers had previously been arraigned on similar charges on February 6.

The prosecution requested a short adjournment to merge and substitute the charges before trial begins. Portable and his workers face a five-count charge, including conspiracy, assault, unlawful obstruction while armed with cutlasses and a gun, and conduct likely to breach public peace.

They are also accused of assaulting three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
