Senate Ethics Committee Reschedules Disciplinary Hearing for Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan Following Clash With Senate President Over Seat Allocation
The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions has postponed its disciplinary hearing for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central.
The proceeding, initially set for Thursday, March 6, was rescheduled via a letter dated Wednesday, March 5, from the committee’s clerk, Christian Onwusonye. The letter confirmed that the public hearing would now take place at Meeting Room 120 in the New Senate Building, National Assembly, Abuja, while emphasizing that the rescheduling does not affect the contents of the previous invitation.
The disciplinary review stems from Akpoti-Uduaghan’s clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20 over seat allocation. She had rejected her assigned seat and continued raising a point of order despite being overruled. Senator Yemi Adaramodu (Ekiti South) later raised concerns, stating that the incident had tarnished the Senate’s image.
The committee expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the change of date.
