Armed Military Personnel Invade Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company Headquarters, Assault Staff as Police Intervene
Lagos, Nigeria – Tension erupted at the headquarters of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) on Thursday morning as armed military personnel stormed the premises, attacking staff and others present at the office.
According to eyewitness reports, the armed men, dressed in military uniforms, arrived at the IKEDC office opposite MITV in Ikeja, Lagos, at approximately 7:40 a.m. The reason for the invasion remains unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Sources at the scene confirmed that employees and other individuals found within the office were subjected to physical assault by the military personnel. Attempts by the police to intervene reportedly met resistance, as the soldiers, allegedly led by a female officer, refused to stand down.
Efforts to reach officials of IKEDC for comments have so far been unsuccessful, while the motive behind the military operation remains unknown.
