Kidnappers of Catholic Priest and Seminarian in Edo State Demand N200M Ransom, Firearm, and Release of Two Gang Members Before Releasing Victims

The abductors of Rev. Fr. Philip Ekeli and seminarian Peter Andrew have demanded a ransom of N200 million, a gun, and the release of two detained gang members before freeing their victims, NEWS REVIEW has learned.

The clerics were kidnapped on Monday night at St. Peter Catholic Church, Ivukwa, in Etsako East LGA, Edo State. While the Catholic Church has yet to comment, a local resident confirmed that the kidnappers have established contact, making their demands known.

“One of their members was killed during the attack, and another fled into the bush with injuries,” the source revealed.

However, Edo State Police PRO Moses Yamu stated he was unaware of the demands, cautioning against misinformation, saying, “There are always various claims in situations like this.”
