Abiodun Reaffirms Commitment to Ogun’s Security, Warns Amotekun Against Misconduct

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has reiterated his administration’s dedication to ensuring the safety of residents. Speaking in Abeokuta on Friday while handing over new operational vehicles and motorcycles to the state’s Amotekun Corps, Abiodun represented by his Chief of Staff, Toyin Taiwo warned operatives against misconduct, extortion, and harassment.

He urged them to uphold professionalism, integrity, and human rights, emphasizing that their uniforms symbolize public trust. “Security is not about oppression or extortion,” he stated, stressing that discipline and intelligence are key to effective policing.

The governor commended the Amotekun Corps for their role in intelligence gathering and community policing, urging them to collaborate with local leaders. He assured continued government support for their efficiency in fighting crime.

Amotekun Commander, Brig. Gen. Alade Adedigba (retd.), praised Abiodun for fulfilling his promise to strengthen the corps, noting the recruitment of 700 new operatives, with 1,000 more in progress. He assured residents of intensified efforts to maintain peace and security.
