Newcastle United Defeats Liverpool 2-1 in Historic Carabao Cup Final, Securing First Major Trophy Since 1955 and Ending 70-Year Wait

Newcastle United secured their first major trophy since 1955 with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

The Magpies took the lead in first-half stoppage time when Dan Burn headed in from a corner. They extended their advantage in the 52nd minute through Alexander Isak, who capitalized on a defensive error. Despite a late goal from Federico Chiesa in the 94th minute, Liverpool failed to complete a comeback, confirming Newcastle’s historic triumph.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe hailed the victory as a “dream come true,” while Liverpool’s Arne Slot admitted his side “wasn’t good enough in key moments.” Newcastle legend Alan Shearer joined in the celebrations, with fans worldwide rejoicing at the end of a 70-year wait for silverware.
