Federal Government Issues New Guidelines for Civil Servants on Salary Migration, Name Changes, and Next-of-Kin Updates to Ensure Proper Documentation and Faster Approvals
The Federal Government has introduced new requirements for civil servants seeking to migrate their salaries, change their names, or update their next-of-kin records.
This directive was outlined in a memo from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, dated March 12, 2025, and addressed to all Federal Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
According to the memo, the government observed that many civil servants fail to submit the necessary documents for such changes, leading to delays in approvals. The directive reinforces an earlier circular issued on November 1, 2022, emphasizing that MDAs must adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures for updates on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).
The memo warns that requests without the required documents will not be processed and urges strict compliance across all agencies.
