Jandor Returns to APC After Leaving PDP, Citing Internal Crisis, Leadership Failures, and the Need for a Stronger Political Platform to Advance Lagos’ Development

Former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jandor announced his return on Monday during a press conference in Ikeja, weeks after resigning from the PDP. He attributed his departure to internal crises and a lack of party discipline within the PDP, expressing frustration over the party’s failure to curb anti-party activities during the 2023 elections.

“Our story in the PDP was a case of working with perennial political saboteurs,” he stated, emphasizing his decision to prioritize the future over past grievances.

Before rejoining the APC, Jandor said he consulted widely with political associates, supporters, and leaders across parties, including the Social Democratic Party (SDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Young Progressive Party (YPP). Addressing concerns about his earlier departure from the APC, he referenced a Yoruba proverb, likening his experience to learning from different situations.

“In APC, we have a leader who prioritizes winning for the party. In Lagos PDP, however, the leadership consistently works against its own party,” he said.

Jandor acknowledged the role of President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, in persuading him to return. He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for recognizing his contributions to democracy and governance.

Assuring his supporters, he said, “Our return to the APC is a commitment to the progress of Lagos. Together, we will champion a better future for our state.”
