Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr to Face Yokohama F. Marinos in Asian Champions League Quarter-Finals as Rebranded Tournament Heads to Jeddah for One-Leg Knockout Rounds in April
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi club, Al Nassr, will take on last season’s runners-up, Yokohama F. Marinos of Japan, in the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League.
The 40-year-old Portuguese star, a five-time UEFA Champions League winner, is aiming for his first title in Asia’s top club competition. Al Nassr’s clash with Yokohama, managed by former England assistant coach Steve Holland, is set for next month.
The revamped tournament, now called the Champions League Elite, will see all quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final played as single-leg ties in Jeddah. The winner of Al Nassr vs. Yokohama will meet either Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale or Qatar’s Al Sadd in the semis.
Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, a four-time Asian champion, faces South Korea’s Gwangju FC, with the victor set to play either Thailand’s Buriram United or Saudi’s Al Ahli in the semi-finals.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for April 25-27, the semi-finals on April 29-30, and the final on May 3.
