PDP Slams Jandor as He Dumps Party, Returns to APC; Ruling Party Welcomes Him Back Amid Defection Controversy
LAGOS – The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has slammed Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, following his return to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adediran, the PDP’s governorship candidate in the 2023 elections and leader of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, announced his defection back to the APC at a press conference in Lagos on Monday. He had earlier resigned from the PDP on March 3, 2025, citing internal party discipline issues and alleged betrayal by its leaders.
Reacting to his move, Lagos PDP Deputy Chairman Tai Benedict accused Jandor of being an APC agent sent to weaken the opposition. “He was never our own. He was planted to destroy the party,” Benedict claimed. He also criticized Adediran’s leadership, particularly his unilateral selection of actress Funke Akindele as his running mate in the 2023 polls, which ended in a disappointing outcome for the party.
Meanwhile, the APC has welcomed Adediran’s return, with its publicity secretary, Seye Oladejo, describing him as a “vibrant young man” who has simply returned home. Oladejo dismissed the PDP’s claims of sabotage, stating that the opposition’s struggles were due to internal disorganization. He also hinted that more defections to the APC were expected as the next election approaches.
