Super Eagles Coach Eric Chelle Urges Improvement Despite 2-0 Victory Over Rwanda in World Cup Qualifier

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has emphasized the need for further improvement despite Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Rwanda’s Amavubi in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday in Kigali.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, the Malian coach praised his team’s performance against a tough Rwandan side but stressed that more work is needed ahead of their next game against Zimbabwe on Tuesday in Uyo.

“It was a difficult game because Rwanda is a good side. I know their coach; he is a good coach. We played well too,” Chelle said.

Expressing pride in his players and Nigerian supporters, he highlighted the team’s extensive preparation, including video analysis and training sessions.

“The victory is normal because in the first half, they had only one chance to score. We controlled the ball in the second half and played two to three different systems,” he added.

While celebrating the win, Chelle remains focused on refining the team’s strategy, acknowledging both strengths and weaknesses as they continue their qualification campaign.
