NDLEA Intercepts Indian Woman with 11kg of Heroin Disguised as Chocolates at Kano Airport, Uncovers Major Drug Trafficking Operations in Lagos and Other States
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a 42-year-old Indian woman, Ms. Neetu Neetu, at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, with 72 parcels of heroin concealed in wafer wraps and packaged as chocolates.
According to a statement by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the consignment, weighing 11kg, was seized from Neetu’s luggage during a search at the airport’s arrival hall. The operation, based on credible intelligence, took place on March 14, 2025, during the inward clearance of Qatar Airways flight QR1431 from Bangkok, Thailand, via Vietnam and Doha.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), raised concerns over drug cartels hiring foreign nationals, including white women, to traffic narcotics through Nigerian borders. He praised the agency’s officers for their vigilance and use of modern intelligence tools to counter such tactics.
Major Drug Seizures in Kano, Lagos
In a separate operation in Kano, NDLEA operatives arrested 45-year-old Michael Ogundele with a 50-litre steel gas cylinder containing 50,000 tramadol 225mg pills. Another suspect, Sunday Ogar, was caught with 27kg of skunk, while Khadijah Abdullahi, 40, was found in possession of 424 bottles of codeine syrup.
In Lagos, officers arrested Olumuyiwa Kolawole and Samod Adisa in Mushin with 67.5kg of skunk, while 100.8kg was recovered from the store of two fleeing suspects. Other arrests included Isah Idris in Apapa with skunk, tramadol, and codeine syrup, and Yahaya Mohamed in Ikotun with cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine.
Nationwide Anti-Drug Awareness Campaigns
Beyond enforcement, the NDLEA has intensified its War Against Drug Abuse advocacy through sensitisation programs in schools, markets, workplaces, and religious centres across the country. Marwa commended officers for their dedication, urging them to sustain efforts in both drug supply reduction and public awareness campaigns.
