Three Lagos Police Officers Detained for Allegedly Kidnapping and Extorting ₦150,000 from Content Creator After Stop-and-Search Operation

Lagos State Police Command has detained three officers accused of extorting ₦150,000 from a content creator in Isheri.

Command spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the development on Monday via his X handle (@BenHundeyin). The 21-year-old victim (@netrovertHQ) alleged that officers stopped his Bolt ride during a stop-and-search, found nothing illegal, but still detained him and a colleague.

They were taken to an unfinished building near Isheri Police Station, where the officers allegedly demanded ₦2 million before settling for ₦150,000, which the victim withdrew and handed over in cash.

Following the complaint, the officers were identified, detained, and the money was recovered. Lagos Police Commissioner Olohundare Jimoh has ordered their immediate transfer to the Provost Office for disciplinary action.
