Manchester City’s Erling Haaland Sidelined for Up to Seven Weeks with Ankle Injury, Set to Miss Key Premier League Games, FA Cup Semi-Final, and Race for Champions League Spot

Manchester City’s hopes of finishing the season strong have taken a hit as star striker Erling Haaland faces up to seven weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury, manager Pep Guardiola confirmed on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old Norwegian was forced off during City’s 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final win against Bournemouth after scoring his 30th goal of the season. While the club remains hopeful he will return for the final stretch, Guardiola revealed that medical assessments suggest an absence of five to seven weeks.

Haaland’s injury comes at a critical time for City, who are currently fifth in the Premier League and battling for a Champions League spot. His absence could see him miss most of the remaining league fixtures, the FA Cup semi-final, and possibly the final if City progress. However, Guardiola remains optimistic that he will be fit in time for the FIFA Club World Cup in June.

With City already struggling with injuries, including the long-term absence of Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, Guardiola acknowledged the team must adapt without their prolific goal scorer. “We need to adjust and find solutions,” he said, emphasizing the need for other players to step up in Haaland’s absence.
