FG to Flag Off Construction of Cross River Section of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway on April 14, with Plans for Akwa Ibom Launch on April 15

The Federal Government is set to begin construction on the Cross River section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway on April 14. This section, known as Section B3, was announced by the Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, during a stakeholders’ engagement in Lagos on Sunday.

Umahi revealed that after the launch in Cross River, the government will proceed to Akwa Ibom on April 15 for another flag-off. He emphasized that the 65-kilometer stretch in Cross River presents significant challenges, describing it as the most difficult terrain of the entire 130-kilometer stretch.

In addition, Umahi updated attendees on the Sokoto-Badagry Highway, noting that one section in Sokoto spans 120 kilometers. He also highlighted challenges, including crossing three-kilometer rivers in the Badagry section, which may involve substantial costs. The minister stated that he will discuss possible solutions with the President before finalizing the plan for the project’s next steps.
