Fire Ravages 12 Shops at Mayegun Cement Store Market in Ibadan, Destroying Millions Worth of Goods
A fire outbreak on Thursday night destroyed no fewer than 12 shops at Mayegun Cement Store Market, Araromi, Agodi-Gate, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Witnesses told NEWS REVIEW on Friday that the fire started around 10:55pm at Block A, No. 64, and raged for over three hours before being brought under control. Several million naira worth of goods were lost in the blaze.
Authorities confirmed that the incident was caused by an electricity surge near combustible materials. Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, told our correspondent that the agency received the emergency call at exactly 11:02pm.

“Our team, led by Cfs Jimoh, arrived promptly and managed to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to other shops. Twelve shops were affected, but we saved property worth billions of naira in the market,” Akinyinka said. The fire service team returned to the station at 3:18am.
