2027: ”No Vacancy in Aso Rock, Tinubu Deserves Second Term” — Ex-Lagos Lawmaker Jude Idimogu Says ”Opposition Alliance Will Fail”
A two-term former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Sir Jude Idimogu, has stated emphatically that there will be “no vacancy” in Aso Rock come 2027.
Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos, Idimogu, who represented Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II from 2015 to 2023, dismissed claims by an opposition group that it would unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general election.
Idimogu, also the Deputy Leader of the Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ndigbo Lagos, and a prominent APC member, said the proposed opposition alliance posed no real threat to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“The coalition is an exercise in futility,” he said, adding that the APC has strong leadership and deep grassroots support that will secure victory in 2027.
He insisted that Tinubu deserves a second term, as his administration is laying the groundwork for sustainable national development.
“In Nigeria, power rotates between the North and the South. It’s the South’s turn to complete eight years. So there is no vacancy in Aso Rock come 2027,” he said.
“I appeal to all Northerners in the party to support the president to complete his eight years.”
On the opposition’s readiness, Idimogu said: “There is no political gang-up that can unseat Tinubu in 2027.”
He argued that Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda is already yielding tangible results, citing improved power supply, appreciation of the naira, revival of the naira-for-crude deal, and a boost in exports.
According to him, food prices are also beginning to drop due to policies encouraging increased agricultural output.
“I’ll give it to him. In two years’ time, I’ll be among the first to champion his re-election,” he declared.
Idimogu advised those behind the opposition coalition to instead join hands with the president in the interest of national progress.
