Okpebholo Pays April Salaries and Pensions Early, Prioritizes Workers’ Welfare Ahead of Easter Celebration

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the early payment of April salaries and pensions for civil servants and retirees across the state.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the payment—made several days before the end of the month—is aimed at easing the financial burden of workers and pensioners ahead of the Easter celebration.

The statement noted that the gesture reflects the administration’s strong commitment to the welfare of its workforce and senior citizens. Itua added that the move is in line with Governor Okpebholo’s policy of prioritising people-oriented governance and ensuring economic challenges do not prevent citizens from celebrating major religious and cultural events.

“This administration understands the significance of Easter in the lives of our people,” the statement said. “We want our workers and senior citizens to celebrate with dignity and without financial worries.”

The government reaffirmed its dedication to transparency and fiscal discipline, which it says has enabled it to meet obligations despite prevailing economic difficulties. It also pledged to continue focusing on initiatives that improve the quality of life for Edo residents, with citizen welfare remaining a top priority in Okpebholo’s leadership agenda.
