APC Releases Lagos LG Election Guidelines, Sets Chairmanship Nomination Fee at ₦5m, Offers Discounts for Youths, Women, and PLWDs
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its nomination and administrative fees for aspirants contesting in the July 12 Local Government Election in Lagos State.
According to the party’s election guidelines signed by APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, and Secretary, Dr. Adeola Jokomba, male aspirants for chairmanship positions are to pay ₦5 million as a nomination fee and ₦500,000 as an administrative fee. Female aspirants will pay ₦2.5 million for nomination and the same ₦500,000 for administration.
Youths under the age of 40 will receive a 50% discount on the nomination fee but must still pay the full administrative fee. Aspirants living with disabilities are exempted from nomination fees but will pay ₦250,000 as an administrative fee.
For councillorship positions, male aspirants are to pay ₦1 million as a nomination fee and ₦100,000 administrative fee. Female aspirants will pay ₦250,000 and ₦100,000 respectively. Youths get a 50% discount on the nomination fee, while persons with disabilities will get the nomination form free and pay a ₦50,000 administrative fee.
The APC stated that no separate fee would be charged for the vice-chairmanship position. All payments are to be made via bank draft to the All Progressives Congress, Lagos State.
Further guidelines indicate that chairmanship aspirants must be endorsed by five registered voters from their ward or local government, while councillorship aspirants need endorsement from 20 registered voters within their ward.
The party emphasized that all aspirants must be Nigerian citizens, at least school certificate holders, and must meet age requirements — 30 years for chairmanship and 25 for councillorship. A higher qualification is considered an added advantage.
Each aspirant is also required to show evidence of party membership, loyalty, and active support. All candidates must sign the party’s Code of Conduct and be cleared by the Screening Committee to participate in the primaries.
The APC also directed that any party official seeking elective office must resign 30 days before the election or primary.
All aspirants are expected to fully comply with constitutional provisions relevant to the offices they seek to occupy.
