He attributed the cause of the accident to speed violations and urged motorists to adhere to the 30 km/h speed limit in built-up areas to reduce crashes and fatalities. He also disclosed that the truck driver has been arrested by the Billiri Police Division and will face prosecution.

In a related development, the Police Public Relations Officer in Gombe State, Buhari Abdullahi, confirmed the incident, noting that the crash caused tension in the community. He explained that the victims were part of the last group returning from Easter prayers when the truck, reportedly loaded with grains, ran into them.

Angry residents set the vehicle ablaze and attempted to lynch the driver, but he was rescued by security operatives. Abdullahi assured that normalcy has since returned to the area, and motorists are now freely using the road.
