Adeola Omotoso, daughter of Nollywood actress Jumoke George, has opened up about how she was trafficked to Mali and forced into prostitution.

In a recent interview, Adeola revealed that her nightmare began after she met a woman who promised to help her secure a job in Mali. According to her, the woman claimed she knew someone who owned a pharmacy and offered Adeola the opportunity to manage it.

“I agreed to travel but didn’t inform anyone at home. We went by road through Cotonou, Togo, Ghana, and other countries for four days,” she recounted.

However, upon arriving in Bamako, the Malian capital, the situation took a dark turn. “I called the contact I was given, and when I got to her house, she told me she was my madam and had bought me from my sister. She said I would have to work as a prostitute to repay 1.5 million CFA francs,” she said.

Shocked and confused, Adeola said she tried to confirm the address but was met with threats when she refused to cooperate. Her phone and travel documents were confiscated, leaving her stranded.

She was later taken to a brothel, but managed to escape with the help of a kind-hearted man who got her a job selling food in another area.

“I told the madam I couldn’t do prostitution but was willing to do other jobs to pay her. She still took my phone and documents,” she explained. “The man I met helped me find work with a food vendor. While there, I heard heartbreaking stories of other Nigerians who had died due to prostitution.”

Determined to return home, Adeola said she began saving money, though shame and regret held her back from contacting her family. “I left home four years ago and have nothing to show for it. I was suffering in silence. I even told my roommate not to post my photo if I died.”

Expressing gratitude for her survival, she added, “I don’t know how good my mum is before God, but He saved me from the evil that awaited me in Mali.”
