Odumeje Warns Students: Avoid Political Science, History, Microbiology, Sociology, Library Science

Popular Anambra-based cleric, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, has advised young Nigerians to avoid studying certain university courses, describing them as “useless” for those from poor backgrounds.

In a viral video posted on X on Monday, Odumeje cautioned prospective students against enrolling in courses such as Political Science, History, Microbiology, Library Information Science, and Sociology.

“All these poor people, if your father has no political connection, don’t waste your time studying Political Science, History, Microbiology, and Sociology. These are useless courses,” he said. “Another one is Library Information Science. It’s better to learn barbing than to waste years on that.”

Odumeje, known for his unconventional preaching style, urged students to pursue courses with economic value, emphasizing that education should be meaningful to be a blessing.

“For education to be a blessing in your family, the course must have value. That’s why we have so many jobless graduates,” he said. “I’m here to guide you as a prophet.”

In the same video, Odumeje reiterated his ambition to contest Nigeria’s presidency in 2027, despite not aligning with any political party yet.

“We need a young, digital-minded leader in this country not old cargoes. I think I will come out for president,” he declared.

He told his congregation that his leadership would bring about modern infrastructure and a digital way of life.

“I want to construct a main road called Citadel for you. I want to give you a modern life, a digital life,” he added.

This isn’t the first time Odumeje has stirred public debate with bold proclamations. His latest comments have continued to generate mixed reactions online.
