Nigerian football icon Jay-Jay Okocha has offered advice to Victor Osimhen as transfer speculation grows following the striker’s record-breaking loan stint at Galatasaray, NEWS REVIEW reports.

Speaking to Turkish outlet TRT Spor via Haberler, the former Fenerbahçe star encouraged Osimhen to weigh the joy and professional growth he’s experienced in Turkey, hinting that remaining at Galatasaray could be a smart move, even if it means compromising on other offers.

“Turkey is a great place to play and live football,” Okocha said.
“Sometimes, you may need to make sacrifices when making decisions in football. Osimhen had a great season at Galatasaray. Ultimately, he is happy there. Why shouldn’t he stay with the team? I love Turkey. He loves it too.”

Osimhen recently wrapped up his loan from Napoli with a stunning 37 goals, helping Galatasaray secure both the league title and the Turkish Cup, capped off with a 2–0 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir.

While Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk praised Osimhen’s contributions and expressed hope for his return, he admitted the player’s future remains uncertain. Meanwhile, passionate Galatasaray fans have launched a global #staywithus campaign, including a billboard in New York’s Times Square to convince him to stay.

Reports suggest the club has offered Osimhen a new contract worth €15 million per year, €3 million more than his current earnings, which would make him the highest-paid player in Galatasaray’s history. Osimhen has not yet commented publicly, but talks are reportedly ongoing through his agent.

When asked if he had any insight on Osimhen’s next move, Okocha stayed neutral.
“I don’t know,” he said. “Wherever he decides to go, I wish him the best.”

Reflecting on his own career, Okocha called his time at Fenerbahçe (1996–1998) “a wonderful two years” and fondly recalled the fans and Turkish cuisine. Wrapping up, he gave a shout-out to his former club: “The greatest is Fener.”
