The anti-graft agency’s account on the microblogging platform has been inaccessible for several days.
The landing page, which previously boasted over two million followers, now displays a message stating: ‘The term you entered did not bring up any results. Please try again later.’
Dele Oyewale, spokesperson for the EFCC, informed NAN that the account is temporarily down due to ongoing upgrades.
“Our X account is temporarily down because of upgrades, but we will be back online soon,” he explained.
“When a system undergoes an upgrade, it may be temporarily unavailable. We’re doing this to enhance public service.”
He emphasized that the EFCC’s other social media pages remain operational.
Addressing rumors, Oyewale clarified that the account was not hacked.
“Our account was not hacked, and it will be back online shortly,” he assured.
The agency’s website, along with its Facebook and Instagram pages, continues to function normally.
There are various reasons why accounts on the platform may become inaccessible, such as poor internet connection, uncleared cache, suspicious activity, or being flagged for violating X’s policies.
